Must happily ever after end with a diamond ring?
Despite the shift in social trends, values and perspective; being single for many is still socially unacceptable. This comes with situations like stigma, stereotypes and discrimination.
The question then goes thus:
Can you be happy if you aren’t in any relationship?
To a one hand, lots of single ladies or men always feel lonely. The Bible comes in to justify this. When Adam was made in the image and likeness of God , he felt lonely. He needed a companion who can make him happy and then, God made Eve from his ribs. So, it’s very clear that when you are single, you are super lonely.
You are because I am. I am because you are for everything God created is a part.
We see happy couples like Barack Obama and wife, Jay Z and Beyonce. This calls for celebration and make people want to get into relationships. To a one hand as earlier mentioned, being single is very sad, boring and lonely.
On the other hand, being single isn’t a complete bad thing.
It’s toxic to get into a relationship that isn’t making you improve. It is preferable to be lonely than to have an everlasting burden. In as much as we cited lots of happy couples above, there are a lot of couples who have divorced too. Not everything is meant for you. Don’t rush into a relationship because of what your friends will say about you. Whatever they say shouldn’t really matter, for you’ll be the only one to carry your cross.
The answer then is yes. You can be very very happy as a single lady or man. It all depends on you and what you want.
