Sarkodie is overrated as Africa’s best, five reasons to portray this.

Hip-hop keeps evolving every now and then, it has never been stagnant.

Sarkodie has been rated as Africa’s best by lots. No one can refute he is indeed an incredible rapper. The rapper has an amazing flow and great punchlines. Hip-hop is a rap music genre that was founded around the 1970s in the USA by inner-city African Americans and Latino Americans in the Bronx borough of Newyork city.

From the perspective of awards, international recognition and most fans opinions, Sarkodie is rated Africa’s best hip-hop artist. The CEO of Sarkcess goes by the birth name Michael Owusu Addo, a ghanaian rapper from Tema.

In as much as the 34-year-old is a wonderful rapper, there are some points that can be advanced to show that he is overrated. Why? Africa has lots of extremely good rappers, some who are better than Sarkodie. I’ll just advance 5 reasons to portray the artist is overrated and you pick your conclusion.

  • To begin with, Sarkodie blends English with another uncomprehending language. There are lots of people who do not comprehend what Sarkodie says in his songs but go ahead to crown him Africa’s best. Judging a good rap, lyrics has to be taken into consideration. Sarkodie has a wonderful flow which confuses people so they forget to check what content he has to offer(lyrics) which is one of the most important music specifiticities. If Sarkodie were to flow just in English, he probably won’t be considered Africa’s best.
  • Also, fast rap doesn’t neccesite good rap. Many people just rate Sarkodie as Africa’s best because he does fast rap and it sounds very nice to the ear. Whether slow or fast, rap can be good. Good rap shouldn’t be judged by its speed but by its impact. Here, M.I, Jovi, Nasty C and others would have definitely beaten Sarkodie hands down. But since people get more excited about the speed of rap, they pick who they want to pick.
  • Moreover, he isn’t unique enough. People will say he is unique due to the fact that he adds the ghanaian language to his songs, he is fast and all but one will rightly agree that he hasn’t really changed the hip-hop phase like Tupac or Eminem did. Then again, he is good but overrated.
  • Furthermore, why Sarkodie can be considered overrated when called the Africa’s best is due to the arts of other rappers. We have many underground artists who are way more better than Sark but lack finaces to put forward their arts to the market. Logically, you can’t claim one is the best African rapper when you haven’t made a proper analysis to ensure he is better than all African rappers. The sentence “he is one of the best African rappers…” if adopted will make more sense.
  • Finally, he doesn’t inspire sufficiently. Music is a work of art. With a work of art, it’s very knowledgeable to be able to identify the ills of the society, ridicule and correct them. This calls for a chnage and a positive impact. Most of Sarkodie’s songs lack this. Hence, he is overrated.
