Burkina Faso will no longer organise the 2022 African Cycling Championship. The African Cycling Confederation (ACC) handed this information to Burkina Faso Cycling Federation (FBC).
The organisation of this competition has been awarded to Egypt. However, “Burkina Faso, who was supposed to organise the competition this year, may take over the organisation next year,” CAC said.
“The change of power on January 24th, 2022 by a coup d’etat makes us to believe that the priorities of the new government are elsewhere than the organisation of a championship, even if it is an African one,” added CAC in a statement.
Note that Egypt had organised the competition in 2021. As for Burkina Faso, they had previously organised the African road championship in 2012.
