Fifth consecutive defeat for Liverpool at home. The Reds lost at Anfield against Chelsea after a goal from Mason Mount in the first period (0-1).

Liverpool and Chelsea wrapped up this Premier League Thursday with a big poster. A reunion between Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, which ended with a victory for the Blues.
The Reds needed a win to end their four-game losing streak, but Klopp’s men were unable to do anything and lost again at home. They had never lost five consecutive games at Anfield in their history.

Sad record for the Reds who nevertheless pushed throughout the second half after letting Chelsea dominate largely in the first half, but who only scored one shot throughout the game.

Chelsea notched a victory thanks to a single goal scored by Mason Mount at the end of the first period. The Blues logically opened the scoring after having repeatedly worried the defense of the Reds.
Timo Werner even thought he had opened the scoring a little earlier, but the German’s goal had finally been canceled by the VAR for an offside position … of the arm (24th).

A few minutes before half-time, Mason Mount opened the scoring for his team. Served in the back of the defense by N’Golo Kanté, the young Englishman played Fabinho at the entrance to the area before sending a powerful strike from the right into the small opposite net of Alisson (42nd, 0-1 ).

In the second half, Liverpool were much more enterprising and also lacked a penalty after a hand from Kanté in the box (48th). Despite the VAR verification, the referee let the game resume.

The Reds had several chances but saw the frame slip away on most of their opportunities. We will have to wait until the last minutes of regulation time to see the Reds frame their first strike.
So it’s a sadly historic loss for the Reds at home. Liverpool are demoted to seventh place in the table after Everton’s victory over West Brom early in the evening. Chelsea, meanwhile, regained their fourth place and returned to three points off the podium.
