Spal, the last Serie B team still in the Italian Cup race, won 2-0 on the lawn of Sassuolo (Serie A), Thursday in the round of 16, to afford a prestigious quarter against Juventus Turin.
Sassuolo, with a reorganized team, lost track at the start of the second half. In quick succession, the Neroverdi were reduced to ten after the exclusion of Filip Djuricic, sanctioned for a poorly controlled intervention (47th), then gave in on a left side incursion of Demba Seck concluded by Simone Missiroli closely
(49th).
Less than ten minutes later, Lorenzo Dickmann (58th) doubled the stake for the Ferrara club (Emilia-Romagna), currently fifth in Serie B.
Spal will meet Juventus in two weeks, who qualified on Wednesday against Genoa, not without difficulties (3-2 after extra time).
