The Head of State, Paul Biya, has released 84.7 million CFA francs to be shared to the families of the victims of the Olembe stampede.

8 people were killed on January 24, during a crowd movement at the Olembe Stadium during the match opposing Cameroon to Comoros which ended 2goals to one in favour of Cameroon (2-1)

One month after this unfortunate incident, the Head of State Paul Biya decided to release an envelope of 84.7 million CFA francs to be given to the families of the victims.

The Governor of the Center Region, Naseri Paul Bea, said this in a statement issued on 23 February 2022. “The Head of State has just instructed the release of the sum of eighty-four million seven hundred thousand (84,700,000) FCFA for their assistance,” he wrote, inviting the beneficiaries of the families of the eight deceased victims to come to his services on Friday 25 February 2022, and the injured on Monday 28 February 2022, “with supporting documents to receive this aid.

This gesture of the Head of State Paul Biya thus comes to relieve the families of the victims and injured during the stampede in Olembe.
