Mengoumou Ayia Thierry popularly known as Tenor was born on April 11, 1998 in Yaoundé.

Having started his career in 2014, the young rapper from Akonolinga arose and got a lot of fans more than expected on a national and international level.

Biography

Born in 1998 to a father, Ewondo and a mother Bulu, Tenor began his studies in Yaoundé. He later left the town for Bertoua where he spent a few years before returning to Yaoundé.

While back to the centre of Cameroon, he finished his primary school education obtaining his Common entrance certificate at the Saint Vincent Palloti school in Nkol-eton. In 2009, he began his secondary studies at the Collège de la Retraite and obtained his undergraduate diploma (BEPC) at the Père Monti Catholic college.

Thierry then decided to continue in technical education where in 2015 obtained his Probatory in action and commercial communication at the Lycée Technique d’Edéa. Because of the success he encountered in his musical career, he decided to put a pause to his studies in 2016.

This said, Tenor hasn’t obtained his A/Ls yet.

Musical career

The musical career of the Cameroonian rapper, Tenor began in 2014 when he was 16 years old. That year, he released his first freestyle titled Cameroonian . His first single Alelouyah was released in 2015. In 2016, he joined the War Machine label, with which he released the song Do le Dab , which met with great success and made him known to the public.

This song paved a way for him to be nominated for the 2016 edition of Canal 2’Or in the revelation of the year and popular song categories .

In 2017, he released the songs Kaba Ngondo and Bad Things. Tenor even collaborated with Mani Bella in her song Déranger which really “dérangér” and with DJ Arafat in the song titled Chicotter les Tympans.

Thanks to these songs, he won 3 prizes at the Balafon Music Awards, that of Revelation of the year , Artist of the year and Best clip of the year..

In May 2017, after a year of collaboration, he left the War Machine label. He worked for a few months as an independent artist, until November 2017, where he joined the Universal Music Africa label. He signed with the label for 2 albums and became the first Cameroonian and Central African artist to integrate the African branch of the record, company Universal Music. He joined other big names in African music such as the Ivorians Kiff No Beat and DJ Arafat.

In May 2018, he released NNOM NGUI, an album (EP) of 7 tracks.

Status

Tenor is presently engaged to marry Ivorian comedian Eunice Zunon.
